Mother Tongue Records is a new independent vinyl pressing plant, record label, distribution and online shop, officially launching May 4 2019.

Based in Verona, Italy and established by dj and producer Patrick Gibin, Mother Tongue Records is a EU-funded project aimed at supporting independent artists and labels in the jungle of vinyl releases today. In an extremely fragmented scene where so many players are involved in the process of releasing a record, most of the times what artists and labels are looking for is someone who can simply make the whole process easier and understandable, but especially someone that listens and cares about their specific needs. Bottom line is quality over quantity and relationship-based approach, trying to fill the gap between who is making music, who is pressing it, distributing it and selling it.

The first release on Mother Tongue records will be a special beat tape-inspired record by multi-instrumentalist Tommaso Cappellato: “Butterflying” is composed of 8 tracks that float from lo-fi hip hop to free jazz and from downtempo electronica to ambient music, filled with head nodding bass lines, zoned-out synth layers and warm atmospheres. Record drops May 16th, with a special limited 7 inch sampler available at the pressing plant opening May 4 in Verona.

Tommaso will also be perfoming at the label launch party the same day (May 4) at the seminal Roots Corte Radisi club in Verona, alongside Kaidi Tatham, Gin Tonic Orchestra, Volcov and Patrick Gibin . – Info on the event (pressing plant opening + label launch) here:
