V.A. (Damon Lamar, Specter, Jose Rico, Leonid)

After a three-year hiatus, Downbeat returns with its 15th release, marking the very first Various Artists compilation in the label’s history.

The A-side features the masterminds behind Tetrode, Damon Lamar and Specter, who deliver two tracks showcasing their signature sound.  Machine house at a lower BPM, packed with repetitive Akai percussions and synth lines—gentler and warmer on Damon’s track, and darker, more unhinged on Specter’s side.”

The B-side kicks off with label co-founder Jose Rico, who delivers “The Invaders,” a track that transports us straight to the roots of the genre. This is textbook Chicago deep house—straightforward and infectious from the very first beat. Closing out the EP, Leonid makes his label debut with an emotional, Detroit-infused deep electronic gem, beautifully crafted with soft percussions, silky synths, and a subtle touch of epic grandeur. Absolutely stunning.
