Jon E.

Following on from Part 1 of the ‘Messages From Easy Street’ series, which dropped in the summer, Jon E. returns with four more heavy-hitting tracks, this time with the dancefloor even more firmly in focus. As with the first instalment, the EP showcases his versatility and strong musicality.

‘High Jazz’ is a sublime slice of feel-good house, built around a distinctive double bass riff, driving percussion and signature jazzy instrumentation. ‘Bullsh*ttin’’ moves into a looser rhythmic pocket with a laid-back, infectious energy, topped off by the free flowing rhymes of London-based artist Shak Da Ville.

On the flip, Jon E.’s bruk roots come to the fore once again on ‘Leave It In Ennit’, a vibrant, funky workout featuring a Latin vocal refrain that’s sure to get the floor moving. ‘Ode To The King (Jeff)’ closes things out on a high, delivering a masterful piece of deep, percussive house, with layers that build to perfection.
